Prepping Away With Style:

Monday, Sep 06, 2010

Over the course of the year I have been blessed in many ways stemming from my passion for bodybuilding competitions. My focus has always been to display a conditioned as well as balanced/symmetrical physic to maintain the beauty within bodybuilding, as well as a more overall package many levels of competitors can appreciate. With this is mind I decided to focus on my first nationals contest in October following a consistent and self satisfying result from my latest shows.

My main goal from one show to the next is to make visible improvements through applying what I have learned over the course of each preparation. Learning my own bodies recover, growth, conditioning, dieting, and training capacity/threshold for performance is an on going process. My body is like most others who are always adapting to an environment and in need of a change every now and then in order to maximize results or even to maintain consistency during preparation.

My latest shows the CAL state 2010 & the West Coast Classic proved to me that in just 6 wks time it is possible to transform a good physic into an even greater physic through diet manipulation and style of training. It has also taught me that I was capable of maximizing my own potential while staying within my Middleweight class. I managed to not only increase my size and conditioning, but lower my overall weight!

May 23rd CAL STATE 2010                          June 26th West Coast Classic 2010

My next decision was “where was I to go from this experience?” After receiving feedback and exposure from photo shoots, friends, fans, Ironman magazine and from my Mentor “The Secret Weapon” in bodybuilding, I chose too focus on my first nationals show. This would prove to be not only a journey others can follow, but a journey into learning my own self again as I obtain a look “Beyond shredded” in order to hang with what is expected from a nationals level competitor for success. Thanks to the help of one of my sponsors Pro-fight Sport I have been improving every day.

After 7 wks of preparation I continue to make alterations on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. I do so by manipulating my diet, cardio, Pro-Fight Supplement regimen and the addition of customized mocha Cutting drinks.

Mind over body:

Sunday, Aug 29, 2010

I spend this day focusing on what is required of me to mold my wants/destiny with the understandings of the importance upon both balance & purpose for achieving short and long term goals in the midst of obstacles, as well as mental and physical sacrifice.

My take on creating/sculpting my physic in the gym are spread throughout my life........

I believe:

  • The mind determines the body's finished product…

  • Visualization has no boundaries…..

  • See it, believe it, achieve it…

                                                                “Visualize and anything is possible”

“Here is a glimpse into how I approach my training which makes every rep, set, weight, and outcome…that much more intense!”

The Upside of Irritation......

Sunday, Aug 29, 2010

**As I face life on a daily basis whether I am training for an event, helping clients or friends, prepping for a shoot, or tackling my normal routine;  I came across this and wanted to share ...

"Things That Annoy Us "

There are many stories of spiritual masters embracing the presence of an annoying student in their community. There is even one story that documents a teacher paying an irritating person to live among his students. From an everyday perspective, this is difficult to comprehend. We generally work hard to avoid people and things that we find annoying so they don’t bother us.

From a deeper spiritual perspective, however, irritation can be an important teacher and indicator that we are making progress on our path. Being able to remain centered and awake even when we feel uncomfortable is much more impressive than doing so in an environment where everything is to our liking. No matter how good we are at controlling our circumstances, there will always be factors and people that we cannot control. How we respond to these experiences to a great degree determines the quality of our lives. The goal of spiritual development is not to learn to control our environment—which is more of an ego-driven desire. And while having some measure of control over our external reality is important, it is when we are confronted with a person or situation that irritates us and we can choose not to react that we know have made progress spiritually. It is when we have mastered our internal reality that we will have become the masters of our lives.

The more we try to eliminate annoyances, instead of learning to handle them gracefully, the further we get from developing the qualities that come with spiritual growth, such as patience, tolerance, and acceptance. It is often in the presence of people and experiences we find annoying that we have an opportunity to develop these qualities. Fortunately for most of us, our lives offer an abundance of opportunities to practice and cultivate these traits.

COMMITMENT:

Saturday, Aug 28, 2010

"To fight when others fold, pursue while others retreat, conquer while others quit, and make right when all else is wrong."

**When I think of all of the times I am asked:

What makes you so positive during such hard times?

What do you do in order to face obsticles on a daily basis?

How do you stay grounded from being 3,000 miles away from all family?

"I see past the obsticals and see only opportunity!"

Contemplation:

Saturday, Aug 28, 2010

Yesterday (August 27, 2010) was another action packed day. My day began by sipping on my customized mocha made for: energy, focus, fat burning, and lean muscle. Before I knew it, it was already 2pm! And I already finished a great meeting with a friend, a very focused 75min session of cardio at Gold’s gym Venice, responded to emails, and ran my errands to mail my clients their lean gain/fat burn and recovery packages. Few phone calls and interactions soon after brought my energy back to Motivation/get work done mode with their positive vibrations and goal oriented minds. I always get energy off of helping people as well as hear people’s goals coming to life.

Finally having the chance to relax and take in only my 3rd meal of the day which would have been meal 5; I continued to visualize what my next two months would entail for fitness & Health. After taking my Pro-fight sport supplements MegaNO II I hit the gym when the sun started to go down for round two of high intensity shoulders, abs and posing practice. Training was definitely a notch above with the 1,000+ rep training adding a new level of mind confusion, muscle contraction, and overall mental as well as physical exhaustion. With over 400reps for pressing, 400 reps for side delts, 200 reps for front delts and 200 reps for rear delts I wasn’t ready to quit, but I was taxed!

1. What is going through my mind before the workout?

     (a) Focus and preparation to push myself thorough pain, willingness to sweat like hell and the want to become comfortable…in the uncomfortable!

2. What is going through my mine during the workout?

     (a) Visualizing exactly where I am targeting in the muscle, fighting thorough the feelings of uncomfortable burn, sweat, blood sugar instability as muscle glycogen is robbed and thoughts of not giving up till I complete what I set out to do!

3. What is going through my mind upon completion?

     (a) Damn that was intense and I am thankful I dealt with it and kept going, Feeling of a huge pump in my shoulders, already soreness and that muscle growing/recovery setting in, and exhaustion with satisfaction that I but another workout in the books and focus on refuel with my diet & rest.

Just the Start of What's to Come!

Friday, Aug 27, 2010

My Off-season and On-season diets change based on my condition/shows done/intuitions and likeness of foods on a weekly basis maybe. My website tells about myself and I will blog my training and diets as I prepare for shows, shoots, or every day me. My workouts also have a "contoured" approach as I believe in forming the workout with the diet/cardio amounts/condition and physic needs for symmetry. I can definitely share that my workouts are not only physically intense but mentally as well. I am huge into visualizing during training. This makes every workout more effective and individual. Seeing/feeling/thinking of the muscle being activated; the shape of the muscle I am creating/the exact look I am going for; the symmetry, hardness, details. Works great and always feels like every weight is so much heavier and I have gotten instant results.

So I thank you all for starting to follow what I strive to be not only influential; but interactive, progressive and motivational as well. Let the journey begin!
